About WeatherMaker
Vision
To develop a climate change web portal that utilises a variety of multimedia communication tools to educate the audience about the impacts of climate change and provide a mechanism to influence behavioural change.
Many of the examples featured on this site have been inspired by the book "The Weather Makers" by Tim Flannery.
Website Portal
The website will include a variety of perspectives relating to climate change. The major categories will be: the basic science that contributes to climate change, the impacts of climate change, the actions people can implement to reduce climate change and a data modelling application.
Part 1 - Basic science and impacts of climate change
The WeatherMaker website will be aimed at community, business, government and education audiences, providing information that is relevent to their needs. Examples will be constructed in a modular way utilising a variety of media including animation, interaction and print.
The “basics” and “impacts” examples will explain specific impacts of climate change.
Part 2 - Actions that can be taken
The “actions” section will emphasise audience involvement and include examples of how
individuals, business and governments can take action to address climate change. This will focus on empowering the audience to create both personal change as well as political and economic change.
Part 3 - Data Modelling Application
We are currently planning the development of an application that integrates data from leading climate change models and scientific research to forecast various climate change scenarios.
