Polar Bear Habitat (concept)

Global warming is starting to make a visible difference to the quantity of ice in the North Pole. Not only will the melting of the ice decrease the amount of heat the earth can reflect back into space but it will also have a dramatic effect on the habitat of the animals in the Arctic.
The ice serves as a place of refuge, a hunting ground and a place to mate and breed young, the polar bears heavily utilise the ice and rely on the cold in their hunting season. Polar bears have been drowning in their search for a solid piece of ice to rest on during hunting, and have been starving due to a shortened hunting season.
Not only is extinction a sure possibility for the polar bear, the entire Arctic eco system is at threat. This module focuses on how the melting of the North Poles ice (due to global warming) will directly affect the polar bear.
